I had to try it...

This is what I made for lunch the other day.

An ordinary grilled cheese sandwich? Not quite. Look again.

Is that mac & cheese in your sandwich? Why yes, yes it is.

And it was pretty good.

Can I have twins named Fred and George?

The last Harry Potter movie came out last week. It was exciting and happy and really sad and amazing and bittersweet and I cried and laughed and.... should I keep going?

I have read all the books and seen all the movies and I knew if I wasn't at the midnight showing I would regret it. So not only did I go at midnight (technically I was in the 12:07 showing) but I made the entire day an epic Harry Potter Extravaganza.

Step 1: Watch as many Harry Potter movies as possible.

So starting Wednesday night I watched 1, 2, 3, 5, most of 6, & some of 7 (not to mention I had watched 7 twice in the previous two weeks).

Step 2: Make awesomely amazing t-shirts to wear to the premier.

I found this cool tutorial online here. Then I came up with an awesome idea. And this was my end result:

I will add that this took forever to make. It took hours to trace and then cut out the stencil. My hand was literally about to fall off. But I was so excited that it came out so well.

(and just in case you were wondering.... I found a Harry Potter font online, then typed out what I wanted to be on my shirt and printed it, and then traced that. I did NOT free hand the words. I am not that talented.)

Step 3: Make Butterbeer cupcakes.

I also found this recipe for butterbeer cupcakes. I had to try them for my Harry Potter Extravaganza even if I had no clue what they would taste like.

Can I just tell you that they were AMAZING. I will without a doubt make these again. (The cupcake is like a cream/vanilla-y flavored cupcake with a butterscotch ganache and frosting... way good)

Step 4: Go to premier.

We had such perfect timing. We showed up just when they were letting people in. The line for our theater wasn't long at all. And we played a fun game until the movie started.

I got back home a little before 3 A.M. with plenty of time to sleep before class in the morning.
About a month ago, I came home from school one day and walked into my apartment. No one else was home. I'm putting my stuff down and I hear this noise in the kitchen.... like something moving in the kitchen.... something moving in my dark, empty apartment....

I look in the kitchen and I don't really see anything but I can still hear movement. Then out of nowhere this thing comes flying out at me and into the living room. To my surprise there is a bird in my apartment. A real, live bird. Flying around my apartment. How did it get into my apartment that was locked with all the windows and doors shut? No idea. Houdini bird.

Well I opened the door and left it to fly off on its own.

30 minutes later.... I am sitting on the floor eating dinner watching the bird fly from the kitchen to the living room couch and back again. Each time flying right past the open door. Oblivious to its escape route and possible freedom.

Finally I decided to take a picture of my new roommate. And not 2 minutes later the bird left. Apparently, he just really wanted his picture taken.

(he is on the couch)

* In case you were wondering, my roommates had the door open earlier in the day and the bird flew in. Then neither one could get it to leave before they had to leave for class.
